One of my friends just found out that she is having a baby girl for her first. How much fun is that?? Yes, I have a penchant for baby girls, but they grow up into teenagers at which point I do not really believe that one sex is superior over the other. With girls you have to plan for future weddings and frilly wedding favors. Boys are more likely to don a lab coat and make secret explosives in the backyard.
Either way, I’m happy for her. A child a blessing and a wonderful addition to the family.
I really highly suggest getting a massage in Huntington Beach. There are some FABULOUS places to go and it is oh-so relaxing. Sometimes when I am having a bad day, I’ll drift back to my AWESOME massage/spa day and it makes things all better until I open my eyes again. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Think of all the times you’ve driven the mom taxi and car-pooled until you were blue in the face. Treat yourself!!!
Do you find it hard to spend money on yourself instead of the kids?? I made myself not looking online for stuff the kids today, but today I found a great site when I was searching ‘women’s personalized jewelry.’ I would love to have one of the really cute personalized necklaces that look they are hand-stamped and have a birthstone in them. Then I had a hard time trying to pick one out. So I ended up trying to find some new work scrubs for my hubby (again, not myself) and ended up ordering him a new lab coat. I guess I’ll try again another day. I’m thinking about looking for a new pair of shoes when I decide what I want.
A little off topic, but my hubby is a HUGE Cookie Monster fan. We just recently watched an episode of Cake Boss where they did a cake for the Sesame Street anniversary and, of course, Cookie took center stage. He’s so freaking adorable you just want to eat him up. I guess I can relate because I dig cookies too!

A new year that brings new clothes, new toys, new fads, and hopefully a few new things for mom. *Sigh* Most of you are probably like me and you have a hard time buying for yourself when you could spend it on the kids. But I’ve made the first step towards making this year better for my family and that was by opening a Christmas Club savings account at our bank. I *dislike* the holiday season because we always go way over our budget and then I’m squeezing pennies together to make ends meet. With a Christmas Club account, you put money in, but you can have it until Nov 1, which is perfect for us. I’ve vowed to put $40 a month in ours (at minimum) and I made our first deposit on Thursday. I’ve had several friends that are also doing this for the first time and making next holiday season a little less
